Artist Statement

Intertwining the human body with neo-fossils, I synthesize remnants of objects which are reflective of contemporary societies’ values and psyche to my identity as a woman, feminist, and daughter. These are pseudo self-portraits of an anthropologist gone rogue. Cut vintage porn, expired birth control placebo pills, dried flora and burned home photographs are visually revised to analyze the commodification of sexuality, Semitic religions, and technology.

The act of revision can evoke a sense of empowerment and catharsis. Cluster Fuck revises the spectacle of cabaret women from Hustler Magazine into a venomous, slithering ode to the femme fatale. Cyberthesia explores the psychology of religion, whose influence has evolved from altars to the lens of a camera.  Mmm, Yeah Baby… Just A Little Taste is an amalgamation of memories by paralleling a house to a soul body. Through pareidolia- the phenomenon of seeing human faces in inanimate objects, I express the trauma of the patriarchy, violence, and grief through the fractured infrastructure.
